The Professional Fighters League (PFL) will feature featherweights and light heavyweights at an upcoming event, headlined by Bubba Jenkins versus Jesus Pinedo, and other matchups including Marthin Hamlet against Impa Kasanganay.
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is set for a comeback on August 4 at the San Antonio’s Boeing Center at Tech Port. Featherweight and light heavyweight matches will serve as the highlights of the event. Leading the card is a duel between Bubba Jenkins and Jesus Pinedo at featherweight. Jenkins will aim for another shot at the finals, while rising star Pinedo will try to replicate his stunning first-round knockout victory that expelled 2022 PFL champion Brendan Loughnane from the competition.
However, Jenkins is no stranger to challenge, having fallen short of the PFL championship in 2022 to Loughnane. His defeat then has fueled him for his upcoming return, as he hopes to nail down his spot in the finals when he competes in August. Meanwhile, the other featherweight match-up sees previous PFL champion Movlid Khaybulaev and Gabriel Braga lock horns for a place in the finals later in the year.
Switching gears to the light heavyweight division, Josh Silveira and Ty Flores are slated for a face-off. Silveira is hoping to maintain his momentum, while Marthin Hamlet goes up against ex-UFC athlete Impa Kasanganay. Within the PFL 205-pound division, some notable changes have occurred throughout the season, with a number of fighters, including 2022 champion Rob Wilkinson and ex-UFC fighter Thiago Santos, getting suspended due to use of banned substances.
With these fighters now out of the picture, it’s down to the last four to secure their final slots, with the enticing lure of a $1 million grand prize at stake. Among the contenders are Elvin Espinoza, Keoni Diggs, Thad Jean, Ali Omar, Desiree Yanez, Lisa Mauldin, Satoshi Ishi, Danilo Marques, Chelsea Hackett, Ky Bennett, Billy Elekana, and Chuck Campbell. The post-season match-ups on August 4 include popular names such as Jenkins, Pinedo, Silveira, Flores, Braga, Khaybulaev, Hamlet, and Kasanganay.
