Fighter Submits After Finger Stuck in Cage

During an Anthony Pettis FC event, lightweight fighter Kurtis Ellis lost by verbal submission after his finger became stuck in the cage during a match against Brandon Evans.

An MMA cage has claimed another victim.

In a truly bizarre scene at an Anthony Pettis FC event in Milwaukee on Sunday, lightweight Kurtis Ellis caught a loss after having to verbally submit when his finger somehow got stuck in the cage.

Watch the inexplicable sequence below.

The strange submission occurred with Ellis’ opponent Brandon Evans roughing him up against the fence in the third round. That was the theme for much of the contest leading up to that point, but this time Ellis attempted to defend himself by putting a hand on the cage. Unfortunately for Ellis, a finger ended up in fencing and he could not remove it.

Ellis was heard shouting in pain, “My finger’s stuck! It’s stuck!” Shortly after, referee Tom Develice stepped in to break up the action. He subsequently ruled Evans the winner by verbal submission.

APFC founder Anthony Pettis had a succinct reaction to the ending, writing simply, “Wtf.”
