Boxing legend and former heavyweight champ George Foreman has passed away at 76. Sad day for fans, indeed.
His family shared the heartbreaking news on his official Instagram page last Friday night.
“Our hearts are broken,” they wrote. “With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., who peacefully left us on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great-grandfather. A life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”
Foreman wasn’t just a boxer; he was an Olympian and two-time heavyweight world champion. Deeply respected—he was a force for good. A man of discipline and conviction, fighting tirelessly to protect his legacy for his family.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers,” the statement continued. “Please give us privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.”
Foreman’s career stats? Impressive! A pro record of 76-5 with 68 wins by knockout. He shared the ring with legends like Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali, and even Evander Holyfield later on. Oh, and he became the oldest fighter to win the heavyweight title at age 46 after knocking out Michael Moorer in ’94.
Beyond boxing, he was the face behind the George Foreman Grill—over 100 million units sold since ’94! And let’s not forget his inductions into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Hall of Fame.
