Former GLORY Kickboxing champion Cédric Doumbé suffered his first MMA defeat at the hands of Baysangur Chamsoudinov after the fight was stopped due to Doumbé complaining of a toe injury, believed to be caused by a splinter or debris.
Cédric Doumbé’s first loss is one he won’t be shaking off anytime soon. And neither will the French fight fans, I reckon.
The ex-GLORY Kickboxing champ’s first MMA defeat was, well, odd. He lost to Baysangur Chamsoudinov at PFL Europe’s main event. The fight was in Paris, at the Accor Arena, packed with a wild crowd.
The welterweights stopped mid-fight. Doumbé had a toe injury, looked like a splinter or some debris. Ref Marc Goddard had already told Doumbé to keep going. So, when the fight paused again, Goddard called it quits. “Baki” won by TKO in round three.
Here’s a tweet from MMA Fighting: “‘Baki’ defeats Cédric Doumbé via TKO after referee Marc Goddard waves off the fight due to an apparent foot injury to Doumbé. Doumbé claimed to want to continue fighting, but had something lodged in his toe.”
Fighters watching were shocked, puzzled, and some even found it funny. UFC featherweight Sodiq Yusuff tweeted, “a splinter may be the most hilarious way for an MMA fight to end.”

Billy Quarantillo (@BillyQMMA) asked: “Is that the refs fault or fighters fault for trying to call timeout over and over ???”
Caolan Loughran (@DonCaolan135) wondered: “Should that have been stopped? I have no idea of the rules. Would imagine Mark does #PFLParis.”
