Ian Machado Garry vs Carlos Prates Headlines UFC Kansas City

Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates will headline the UFC Kansas City event on April 26, after the original main event was changed, with Garry looking to rebound from a recent loss and Prates entering with an undefeated record.

So, here’s the scoop: Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates are set to throw down in the new main event at UFC Kansas City. Mark your calendars for April 26!

The UFC spilled the beans about this matchup on Tuesday. But, oddly enough, they didn’t say a peep about what went down with the original headliner between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree.

Why did Hill vs. Rountree get the axe? Who knows! Regardless, the UFC didn’t waste any time finding a fresh main event.

Garry’s jumping back into the octagon after a nail-biter against Shavkat Rakhmonov last December. It was a battle for the No. 1 contender spot in the welterweight division. Although Garry fell short, he pushed Rakhmonov to his limits. Now, he’s got another shot against one of the division’s rising stars.

As for Prates, he’s been on fire with a flawless 4-0 record in the UFC. Every fight? Knockout victory in either the first or second round. Originally, he was set to face Geoff Neal at UFC 314 until Neal got injured.

Instead of finding him a new opponent for that date, the UFC decided to shift Prates over to headline Kansas City against Garry. Talk about an upgrade!

And it’s not just Garry vs. Prates on April 26. Anthony Smith is also stepping into the ring for his retirement bout against Zhang Mingyang. Plus, Giga Chikadze will clash with David Onama in a featherweight showdown. It’s gonna be a night to remember!
