Interestingly, Munguia was a massive -2500 favorite according to most sportsbooks. Initially, this seemed accurate. In Round 2, Munguia delivered a lightning-fast left hook that almost sent Surace flying through the ropes. But Surace got up—setting the stage for what came next.
Then came Round 6. Surace threw the punch of his life and landed it perfectly. Munguia hit the canvas hard; unable to beat the count, Surace celebrated his fifth career knockout win.
Just two fights ago, Munguia went the distance against boxing star Canelo Alvarez in a super middleweight title bout. Now, he faces his second loss in seven months and enters 2025 with uncertainty looming large.
