Jake Paul, after a knockout win against Ryan Bourland, has announced the next Most Valuable Promotions event date and is open to fighting an opponent from the UFC, while also passing on an offer to fight struggling lightweight veteran Tony Ferguson.
Jake Paul is on a roll in 2024. He’s just come off a knockout win against Ryan Bourland in Puerto Rico, last Saturday. Paul, with a record of 9-1, 6 KOs, is already planning his next Most Valuable Promotions event. He’s hinted at his next ring walk too.
“We’re baaaaaaaacck… Friday April 26th,” Paul posted on social media. Will he be boxing on that card? We’re not sure yet.
The tweet might also hint at a new date for Amanda Serrano’s next fight. Serrano was supposed to headline Saturday’s card, defending her featherweight titles against Nina Meinke in her home country. But, a pre-fight hair mishap involving a chemical in her eye forced her to withdraw. That’s according to her manager, Nakisa Bidarian.
So, Paul stepped in and headlined. He ended up finishing an over-matched Bourland in the first round.
At the post-fight press conference, Bidarian announced that attendees could get a full refund. He also mentioned that he’s unsure if Serrano will be re-booked against Meinke. Serrano’s dream? Her last fight to be in Puerto Rico, whether it’s her next fight or sometime in the future.
Paul was asked about his plans to compete in MMA. He’s currently signed to the PFL and open to fighting a UFC opponent, if they can negotiate. “Anyone who can get out of their contract, I’ll fight,” Paul said. “That’s easy work as far as I’m concerned, but I do want to do a PFL MMA match. It just has to be the right opponent, but Nate [Diaz] did duck my $15 million offer, so we’ll see who else is on the chopping block.”
One name thrown into the mix was Tony Ferguson. “El Cucuy,” a struggling lightweight veteran, recently expressed his interest in fighting Paul on the JAXXON podcast. But, given his recent poor form, Paul isn’t biting.
“Tony Ferguson, he said he wanted to fight?” Paul questioned. “I don’t want to see him go out like that. That would be sad. He’s a great guy, we don’t want that for Tony.”
