Joe Rogan recounts altercation with Eddie Bravo at Hard Rock Hotel

Former UFC fighter Tait Fletcher got into a scuffle with a big guy in a Las Vegas hotel hallway over a room dispute, which was escalated by Eddie Bravo pouring gasoline on the fire, and ended with Fletcher putting the big guy to sleep with an omaplata and rear-naked choke.

Back in the day, UFC commentator Joe Rogan, former fighter Tait Fletcher, and Eddie Bravo were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas when a scuffle broke out in the hallway due to a room dispute. Rogan shared the incident, which initially deescalated before Bravo poured gasoline on the fire, during his podcast.

Fletcher, a legit Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, got into an argument with a 6’6″ athlete, who tried to use his key on Fletcher’s room, claiming it was his. This led to a pounding on the door, and all three men stepped into the hallway to calm the situation, which prompted the big guy to backtrack. However, Bravo encouraged him to do something, causing the man to step up to Fletcher as if he was going to attack him.

Fletcher went on to put the man in an omaplata, which transitioned into a rear-naked choke, putting him to sleep out cold. The man’s friends picked him up and dragged him into an elevator, and he disappeared from life. Fletcher was a professional fighter until 2008, and these days he has a successful acting career, appearing in John Wick, Breaking Bad, Westworld, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, among other films.

This incident is a classic example of how a dispute over a room can spiral out of control quickly. It’s also a reminder of the importance of deescalating situations, rather than pouring gasoline on the fire. In this case, one person lost consciousness, and it could have been worse if not for Fletcher’s mixed martial arts skills. It’s a lesson to think before acting on impulse, and perhaps to remember to double-check your room number before accusing someone else of being in your room.
