Jon Jones, after successfully defending his UFC heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic, is in negotiations with the UFC for a potential fight in 2025, eyeing a match with Alex Pereira while the MMA community anticipates a bout with interim champ Tom Aspinall.
Jon Jones thinks he’ll probably step into the UFC octagon again in 2025.
Not long ago, Jones defended his UFC heavyweight title. He dominated Stipe Miocic with a TKO at UFC 309. “Bones” is eyeing a fight with light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira, hoping for a big pay bump. Meanwhile, fans are buzzing about a potential clash with interim champ Tom Aspinall.
As it stands, Jones and his team are chatting with the UFC.
“Right now, we’re negotiating,” Jones told The Schmo. “We’re seeing what’s next. I’m back in the gym, feeling great. My team’s got my back, ready for whatever comes.”
“There’s a number I have in mind,” he added, “but I won’t spill the beans just yet. We’ll see how it unfolds… Competing in 2025? Yeah, seems likely.”
Since moving to heavyweight, Jones is 2-0. He quickly submitted Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March 2023 to claim the title. Afterward, he called out Miocic. Injuries and cancellations delayed their bout for nearly two years. Beating the 42-year-old Miocic now feels different to Jones.
“It’s been amazing,” Jones said. “This win feels special. The world’s excited, and the UFC has taken it to new heights. I feel like I’m exactly where I need to be and couldn’t be more thankful.”
