Jon Jones Resumes Training After Pectoral Injury Recovery

Jon Jones, the three-time light heavyweight champion, has returned to training for the first time since his pectoral injury in November, which had forced him out of a heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295.

Jon Jones? Yeah, he’s gearing up for a comeback.

Last November, things went south for Jones. A pesky pectoral injury had him bowing out of a heavyweight title defense. His opponent? Stipe Miocic, at UFC 295. This hiccup has left “Bones” on the bench, with everyone expecting the Miocic fight to be rescheduled.

Wednesday saw Jones back on social media. His big news? He’s back in training, first time since the injury.

His words? “First day back in the gym since my injury, felt amazing,” Jones shared. “And so it began.”

Jones, a three-time light heavyweight champ, hasn’t been in the ring much lately. Since 2020, he’s only had two fights. He took down Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. Then, he was MIA until UFC 285. There, he snagged a vacant heavyweight title with a killer submission win over Ciryl Gane.

But why the lack of fights? Well, Jones has had his fair share of legal troubles. Plus, a previous contract dispute with UFC didn’t help.

At 36, Jones is still undefeated in MMA. Well, mostly. Out of 29 pro fights, he’s got two blips. A disqualification loss to Matt Hamill in December 2009. And a no-contest against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. Jones had originally knocked out Cormier in the third round. But, a positive test for banned substances had that result flipped.
