Jorge Masvidal’s father has been arrested for allegedly shooting someone at the retired fighter’s home while Masvidal was not at home at the time of the incident.
Jorge Masvidal’s father has been arrested for allegedly shooting someone after an argument at Masvidal’s retired UFC fighter’s home in Miami. The news was first reported by Andy Slater on Twitter. Slater is the host of the syndicated Andy Slater Show based out of Royal Palm Beach, Florida. The alleged shooting took place while Masvidal was promoting his bareknuckle boxing event.
According to Slater, a senior law enforcement source told him, “The UFC star’s father is in custody after allegedly shooting somebody at the fighter’s house during an argument.” The senior law enforcement source also confirmed that Masvidal was not at home during the altercation. Instead, he was attending an event to promote his bareknuckle boxing match taking place on Friday night at the FLA Live Arena.
There has been no additional information released about the incident, including the identity of the victim or the motive behind the shooting. Masvidal hasn’t publicly commented on the situation either. The arrest is still under investigation, and it’s unclear what legal consequences Masvidal’s father will face at this time.
This is not the first time that Masvidal’s family has been in the spotlight. Earlier this year, Masvidal’s father revealed his battle with COVID-19 and his struggle to get vaccinated. Masvidal himself is a former UFC fighter and has a long-standing reputation in the industry. He retired in 2022 but is still heavily involved in promoting the sport. Details on his upcoming bareknuckle boxing match are available on his social media accounts.
