Julia Avila announced her retirement from MMA after losing to Jacqueline Cavalcanti by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 102, concluding her career with a 9-4 pro record.
Julia Avila wrapped up her fighting career at UFC Vegas 102.
In the first bout of Saturday’s card at the UFC APEX, Avila faced Jacqueline Cavalcanti. Unfortunately, she lost via unanimous decision. Afterward, with her young daughter by her side in the octagon, Avila announced her retirement. Quite the moment!
“This is it,” Avila shared with Daniel Cormier. “I want to thank God for letting me fight on the world’s best stage. Usually, I start my fight with Psalm 144:1 — may God strengthen my fists for battle and fingers for warfare.”
She added, “Today I say, God says well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Avila retires with a 9-4 pro record, including a balanced 3-3 in the UFC. Known as “Raging Panda,” she battled injuries and took time off to embrace motherhood over recent years. This led to just two fights since June 2021. Her wins include a decision over Pannie Kianzad at UFC 239 and stoppage victories against Gina Mazany and Julija Stoliarenko.
On the flip side, Cavalcanti impressed by sweeping all three judges’ scorecards. She remains undefeated in the UFC and has now extended her win streak to seven fights. Quite a feat!
