Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Peña is anticipating a title fight against new champion Raquel Pennington later this year and discussed various topics, including her reputation in the division and potential future opponents, during a media scrum before the 2024 UFC Hall of Fame ceremony.
LAS VEGAS — Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Peña is eagerly awaiting the chance to become a two-time world champion. She’s just waiting for the paperwork to go through.
Peña is expected to challenge new champion Raquel Pennington later this year. Both were cast members on season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter. The fight, however, has yet to be officially announced by the promotion.
Before the 2024 UFC Hall of Fame ceremony — held during UFC 303 fight week in Las Vegas — Peña spoke with reporters. She discussed waiting for the contract to face Pennington for the title.
Additionally, “The Venezuelan Vixen” touched on being the “most hated” woman in the bantamweight division. She also mentioned Kayla Harrison entering the UFC and believes Harrison is a far bigger fight for her than Pennington.
