Logan Paul hinted at a potential boxing exhibition with Conor McGregor by quoting one of McGregor’s famous lines while announcing his return to WWE, amidst rumors of negotiations for a match between the two.
Logan Paul hasn’t directly addressed the swirling rumors about a potential boxing exhibition with Conor McGregor. But, oh boy, he sure knew what he was doing when he quoted one of McGregor’s most infamous lines during his WWE comeback announcement on Wednesday.
At a special event marking WWE Raw’s upcoming move to Netflix in January, Paul confirmed his ring return. This follows a brief retirement tease after his last bout with L.A. Knight at WWE SummerSlam in August. While announcing his return, he couldn’t resist channeling McGregor’s spirit.
“If you have something I want, I’m gonna take it,” Paul declared with gusto. “I’m not asking permission. I am taking it from you.” He addressed his critics head-on: “Some say ‘Logan Paul’s a bully.’ Yeah, maybe I am, and WWE is my playground.”
“I’m not here to take part. I’m here to take over.” Sound familiar? Whether you love him or hate him, Paul insists you’ll keep watching because he’s the star of this show.
McGregor first uttered “we’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over” back in 2014, celebrating Irish fighters’ rise in the UFC. There’s no way Paul’s use of that line was accidental, especially with all the buzz around a possible match against McGregor next year.
Paul’s no stranger to the boxing ring either. He got his start with bouts against fellow influencer KSI, who later became a business partner with Prime Energy Drinks.
In 2021, Paul faced off against undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition that drew over a million pay-per-view buys. More recently, he snagged a disqualification win over Dillon Danis—McGregor’s friend and teammate—in 2023.
So, is Paul hinting at a real showdown with McGregor by quoting him in WWE? Only time will tell if this exhibition becomes reality.
