Mackenzie Dern and Angela Hill are set to headline UFC Vegas 73 on May 20 in a five-round strawweight contest, according to multiple sources. The fight was initially scheduled for three rounds at Saturday’s UFC on ABC 4 in Charlotte, N.C. However, the UFC needed a new main event attraction for the May 20 card after Irene Aldana was pulled from a bout with Raquel Pennington to replace Julianna Peña at UFC 289. Pennington is now slated to face two-division champion Amanda Nunes for the UFC bantamweight belt on June 10 in Vancouver, Canada.
Dern, with a record of 12-3, has emerged victorious in seven of her 10 octagon appearances and hopes to bounce back from a majority decision loss to Yan Xiaonan this past October. On the other hand, Hill, with a record of 15-12, is a former Invicta FC champion attempting to tie her longest UFC winning streak. She has secured two decision victories so far in 2022, over Lupita Godinez and Emily Ducote.
