Mark Zuckerberg has decided to stop pursuing a fight with Elon Musk until Musk takes the prospect more seriously, stating he will now focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.
Mark Zuckerberg, the tech mogul, announced his withdrawal from the proposed showdown with billionaire rival Elon Musk, at least for the time being. Zuckerberg decided after Musk’s apparent lack of commitment to the fight. He shared on Threads — a part of his Meta social media portfolio — that plans to book a match with the Twitter owner are temporarily shelved until Musk demonstrates increased seriousness regarding the event.
“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” Zuckerberg commented via the digital platform. He expressed frustration, stating, “I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.” Zuckerberg’s disappointment with Musk’s seeming reluctance or hesitation towards the proposed fight is palpable.
However, Zuckerberg maintained an open line for Musk, stating, “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.” Earlier, Musk had proposed that a match with Zuckerberg would take place but without UFC’s managerial involvement, which Zuckerberg disagreed with, causing the idea of this much-hyped battle of the billionaires bout to lose momentum. Despite this, Dana White, who advocates for the fight, predicted it could generate a billion dollars in revenue.
