Marlon Vera Responds to Henry Cejudo Fight Cancellation & Challenges Petr Yan

Fighter Marlon Vera expressed disappointment on social media over Henry Cejudo‘s withdrawal from their UFC 292 fight due to a shoulder injury, before challenging two-time UFC champion Petr Yan.

Marlon Vera, the No. 8 ranked bantamweight fighter globally, has lost the opportunity to fight Henry Cejudo due to an unexpected shoulder injury that has forced Cejudo out of the upcoming UFC 292. Vera shared his dismay on social media with a succinct expletive, a reaction much shared among his fans and followers. The post showcased his frustration at the sudden turn of events.

Instead of dwelling on the disappointment, Vera quickly decided to take action. In a follow-up tweet, he called out two-time UFC champion Petr Yan. It was a bold move likely to draw both excitement and speculation among MMA enthusiasts. Vera has been known for his tenacious approach, so the prompt challenge didn’t come as a significant surprise.

On the other hand, Petr Yan, the fifth-ranked bantamweight, has been going through a rough patch, experiencing a career-worst slump after losing three consecutive fights to Merab Dvalishvili, Sean O’Malley, and Aljamain Sterling. He bagged the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 251, only to lose it controversially to Sterling in his first title defense at UFC 259. Meanwhile, Vera is eyeing a comeback after his split-decision loss to Cory Sandhagen in March ended a four-match winning streak. Despite this setback, the Ecuadorian fighter has a commendable record of winning 10 of his past 13 fights.
