After being forced to withdraw from a UFC Vegas 89 main event due to a “freak accident,” Marvin Vettori has expressed his desire to fight Brendan Allen in the future, asserting that he is the A-side to the fight and that Allen will have to “beg” for another shot.
Marvin Vettori’s got his eyes set on Brendan Allen. He’s itching for a fight, even after being pulled from their main event.
The UFC Vegas 89 headliner had to be scratched. It’s happening on April 6 at the UFC APEX. And why? Vettori blames a “freak accident”.
This is a first for him, pulling out of a fight. He’s a one-time middleweight title contender, after all. He shared this in an Instagram video. Then, he shifted his focus to Allen.
“Listen here, my opponent, it’s on,” Vettori declared. “You can’t hide anymore. I’ll see you around. Either in the cage or outside. I’m sick of your nonsense. You’re all tough behind a computer screen. But when you see me? You’re like a timid little girl. All smiles and niceties. I’ve already shown you who’s boss once, remember?”
He continued, “I sat you down and told you how you got knocked out by those two guys. You know what happened, you oddball. You look like something out of a Griffin episode.”
Vettori’s still keen on a fight with Allen. This, despite a crushing decision loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC Vegas 75 in June. He’s convinced he’s the A-side of the fight. If Allen wants to climb the ranks, he’s on a six-win streak, after all, it’s Vettori’s call.
“It’s on. I’m the big shot. You’ll have to beg me for another shot. I couldn’t care less about fighting you. I’m doing you a favor. I’ll smash your face just for the fun of it. You look ridiculous to me. That’s it. See you soon.”
