UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori may have found an opponent. Vettori has been vocal on social media that he can’t get middleweights to fight him. ESPN’s Marc Raimondi reports that Vettori will fight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 256 on December 12. Raimondi also reports that the UFC has yet to announce the location for UFC 256.

Vettori has become a promising contender in the middleweight division. He is on a three-fight win streak and is ranked 14th in the division. His last win was against Karl Roberson by submission via rear-naked choke at UFC on ESPN 10 on June 13th. Vettori has called out the likes of Chris Weidman, Kevin Holland, and even Souza, but wasn’t able to get a fight finalized. Vettori will now have a chance to fight Souza and further cement himself as a threat in the middleweight division.

Souza will be dropping back down to middleweight after his last fight at light heavyweight. He is looking to bounce back from a two-fight losing streak. His last loss was against Jan Blachowicz by split decision at light heavyweight at UFC Fight Night 164 on November 16, 2019. After his loss, Souza was planning to go back to middleweight. Souza was scheduled to fight Uriah Hall at UFC 249 on May 9th but was pulled from the card after testing positive for the coronavirus. Now healthy, Souza will look to get back into the middleweight rankings with a win over Vettori.
