A pivotal lightweight matchup is heading to Australia.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Mateusz Gamrot and Dan Hooker is targeted for UFC 305 on Aug. 17 at RAC Arena in Perth. Verbal agreements are in place for the bout. Hooker first teased the bout on his Instagram Stories earlier in the week.
Gamrot enters the fight with three straight wins and victories in seven of his past eight. The former KSW champion competed earlier this year, picking up a decision win over former champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 299 in March.
Hooker returns to action for the first time in 13 months and does so riding back-to-back victories. In his most recent appearance, “Hangman” battled back to earn a gritty split decision win over Jalin Turner at UFC 290 in July 2023.
UFC 305 is headlined by a middleweight title fight between Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya.
