Max Holloway has a message for Ilia Topuria ahead of their highly anticipated showdown later this month. The two fighters are set to clash for the UFC featherweight title in the main event of UFC 308 on October 26 in Abu Dhabi.
Holloway, fresh off his jaw-dropping knockout of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, currently holds the BMF title. In a recent Instagram post, he reminded Topuria who the real “BMF” is, making it clear that his belt was “earned not bought.”
In a heated interview with Brendan Fitzgerald, tensions flared as Topuria boldly draped a BMF title over his shoulder. Holloway didn’t hold back in asserting his claim to the title.
Topuria’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. He seized the UFC featherweight crown with a devastating knockout of Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 back in February. Known as “El Matador,” Topuria boasts an undefeated record of 15-0, including an impressive 7-0 streak in the UFC.
Holloway, on the other hand, has faced Volkanovski three times, losing each encounter. After a tough decision loss to Volkanovski at UFC 276 in July 2022, Holloway bounced back with victories over Gaethje, Arnold Allen, and Chan Sung Jung.
