Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Michael Page has announced that he is a free agent after his Bellator contract expired, but is open to returning to the combat sports promotion, while also considering options in boxing or bare-knuckle boxing.
Michael Page, an MMA free agent, is known for his attractive and theatrical striking style. The 36-year-old welterweight announced on Monday during The MMA Hour that he is currently exploring his options in the world of combat sports as his contract with Bellator has expired. He jokingly described himself as “unemployed” but added, “It’s time for me to just explore what else is out there. It doesn’t mean I’m not going to go back with Bellator. It just means I want to see what other people think of ‘MVP.’”
Page even stated that although Bellator still holds a matching clause for any new contract offers, he believes that the promotion will accommodate him if he decides to seek other opportunities. He has several options on the table, including a possible return to boxing or even bare-knuckle boxing. Additionally, he mentioned his plans to be present this Saturday at The O2 Arena for UFC London.
The fighter also known as “MVP”, had been competing under the Bellator umbrella since 2013 and holds the record for the most knockouts (11) in the history of the promotion. His appearances in the Bellator cage have resulted in 17 wins out of 19, with defeats only to the former champion Douglas Lima and a controversial split decision to Logan Storley for the interim welterweight title in May 2022. Notable victories along the way include triumphs over fighters like Paul Daley, Lima, Derek Anderson, David Rickels, and Evangelista Santos. Santos’ defeat in particular, highlighted by a ruthless knockout, was considered one of 2016’s best. Page’s last appearance in the Bellator cage, an impressive win through a TKO over Goiti Yamauchi in just 26 seconds, was in March. The fight could potentially mark the end of his Bellator season.
