Miguel Torres Criticizes Dana White on Bryce Mitchell’s Hitler Comments

Miguel Torres criticized Dana White and the UFC for perceived hypocrisy in handling offensive comments, highlighting his own past punishment for an inappropriate tweet compared to the lack of consequences faced by Bryce Mitchell for his controversial remarks about Adolf Hitler.

Miguel Torres feels he got a raw deal from Dana White and the UFC. Back in 2011, Torres was briefly cut from the UFC for tweeting something highly controversial. He tweeted, “If a rape van was called a surprise van more women wouldn’t mind going for rides in them.” At that time, Dana White told Sports Illustrated there was no way to justify such a statement. It disturbed him deeply, leading to Torres’s release.

Oh, how times change! Just last week, Bryce Mitchell, a UFC featherweight, launched his new podcast. In the inaugural episode, he shockingly claimed Adolf Hitler was “a good guy.” He said Hitler fought to cleanse his country by expelling Jews, whom he blamed for turning everyone into gays. When asked about Mitchell’s comments, White condemned them as “beyond disgusting” but took no further action against Mitchell. No cuts, no penalties—nothing.

On Monday, Torres didn’t hold back. He fired off a scathing tweet at the UFC CEO. His words were biting: “If a rape van was called a Hitler van Dana White wouldn’t mind going for a ride in it. #hypocrisy #danawhite #arielhelwani #joerogan #FreeSpeech #UFC.”

Torres did get back into the UFC after some time. He publicly apologized and took steps to make amends by visiting rape crisis centers in Chicago. Meanwhile, Mitchell also issued an apology recently. He admitted he “sounded insensitive” and claimed he wasn’t trying to offend anyone.

Torres once held the WEC bantamweight championship title and was considered one of the top pound-for-pound fighters globally. He hung up his gloves and retired from MMA in 2017.
