Mike Malott will fight Trevin Giles at UFC Edmonton on November 2, returning to action after his first UFC loss, while Giles aims to recover from two consecutive defeats.
Mike Malott will compete in his home country once again.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans — including Oren Hodak of KOreps — confirmed to MMA Fighting that Malott will face Trevin Giles at UFC Edmonton at Rogers Place on Nov. 2.
Malott returns to action after suffering his first UFC loss in his most recent appearance. “Proper” faced longtime promotional veteran Neil Magny at UFC 297 in January. After an incredible start, Magny battled through adversity en route to a third-round TKO win in the final seconds of the fight. Prior to that, Malott picked up stoppage wins over Mickey Gall, Adam Fugitt, and Yohan Lainesse.
Giles hopes to bounce back after getting stopped in his past two fights by Gabriel Bonfim and Carlos Prates. The 32-year-old is set to make his 14th octagon appearance, which includes eight fights at middleweight.
UFC Edmonton is set to be headlined by a flyweight bout between Rose Namajunas and Erin Blanchfield.
