Mike Perry Disappointed in Eddie Alvarez’s Two-Round Performance, Wants Anthony Pettis BKFC Fight

Mike Perry defeated Eddie Alvarez at BKFC 56, but expressed disappointment that the fight ended in the second round due to Alvarez’s injury, stating he wanted five full rounds of fighting.

Mike Perry and Eddie Alvarez locked horns at BKFC 56. However, Perry felt that the four-minute fight was too short.

Perry notched another victory, bringing his bare-knuckle boxing record to 4-0. Yet, he wanted more from Alvarez, who couldn’t continue past the second round. His coaches stopped the fight due to Alvarez’s possible broken orbital bone and severe swelling on the left side of his face. Perry was hoping for a full five rounds.

“I had fun with Eddie, but it happened exactly how I said it would,” Perry said during the BKFC 56 post-fight press conference. He had earlier posted a picture of a backyard fight featuring Kimbo Slice, with Slice urging his opponent to hit him. Perry wanted the same from Eddie.

By the end of the second round, Alvarez was more busted up than Perry. Despite getting a bit roughed up himself, Perry smiled throughout, living up to his “King of Violence” moniker.

Before the fight, Perry had stated that he couldn’t respect Alvarez because they were about to fight. This lack of respect played out in the ring. Despite admiring Alvarez’s career, Perry wanted more from him.

When asked if he respected Alvarez now, Perry said, “Yes and no.” He was disappointed that it was another second-round victory. He wanted a full five rounds, even if it meant going into sudden death. He was just warming up after four minutes and was ready for more.

During the press conference, Perry received callouts from current BKFC champions. These included David Mundell and two-division title holder Luis Palomino. Perry wants his opponents to have a significant social media following, to help sell the fight.

Perry respects the other fighters and their experience. His first bare-knuckle fight was against Julian Lane, which taught him a lot. He’s ready to fight whoever the company matches him up with.

In an ideal world, Perry would love to fight Conor McGregor. However, due to McGregor’s exclusive contract with the UFC, this is unlikely to happen. Instead, Perry is considering Anthony Pettis, a former UFC champion who has shown interest in bare-knuckle fighting.

Perry believes a fight with Pettis would be amazing. Pettis recently won a boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. Perry wants a fight with someone who won’t quit, and Pettis fits the bill.
