Mike Perry, the face of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), is potentially looking to face off against ex-UFC champion Eddie Alvarez in a future fight, following the signing of a lucrative new contract with BKFC.
Mark Perry, a prominent figure in BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship), recently signed a high-profile contract securing his stay with the promotion. As well as training as a stand-in for a high-profile boxing match between Logan Paul and Dillon Danis scheduled for 14th October, Perry also has his eyes on even bigger prizes. He’s already discussing his next fight with BKFC, although no official offer has been made or signed yet. However, Perry did make it known that he has singled out one potential opponent: Ex-UFC champion Eddie Alvarez.
Perry refrained from sharing too many details about a possible fight with Alvarez but hinted at a November-December timeline. He said, “I heard that they’re talking about November-December against a possible [opponent]. Maybe it was my last co-main event. That’s easy work for me. Cut the check and cut his neck.” Alvarez had his debut bare-knuckle fight back in April, in which he defeated Chad Mendes. This fight took place during the same event where Perry wrapped up his battle with former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
Alvarez has expressed intent to compete again in bare-knuckle fighting, which makes Perry a probable opponent given his renowned standing in the BKFC. Perry admitted a fight with Alvarez could mean a considerable weight cut on his part as he last competed at 185 pounds, however, he can’t deny the potential scale of such a match.
Expressing his thoughts, Perry said, “I’d have to cut a little bit of weight. That fight with Rockhold was at 185. I really enjoyed the power that I built up over training. I was 190. He had 15 pounds on me. If I meet him at a fair weight, I heard he’s interested. I’ll gladly send him into retirement.” Alvaraz, who fought through thick and thin and succeeded to a split decision win over Mendes in a bloody war, may face a whole different challenge if he takes on Perry.
