Mike Perry on Nate Diaz Street Brawl: Disrespecting Fighters May Lead to an Ass-Kicking

UFC fighter Nate Diaz was involved in two altercations in New Orleans, including choking out a man outside a bar, which led to an arrest warrant being issued for second-degree battery.

Nate Diaz, well-known for his UFC career, has proven he isn’t opposed to fighting outside of the cage when necessary. The 38-year-old veteran recently got involved in an altercation during the Misfits Boxing 6 card event attended in New Orleans, where he supported his longtime friend and teammate Chris Avila. Consequently, a brawl broke out when Diaz threw a water bottle at reality TV star Chase DeMoor prompting security to intervene.

Later the same night, another skirmish occurred outside a bar, resulting in Diaz choking out Logan Paul lookalike Rodney Peterson and leaving him on the ground unconscious. Following this altercation, arrest warrants were issued against Diaz on the suspicion of second-degree battery. BKFC star Mike Perry, who has been involved in a few street fights himself, laughed at the absurdity of the events that unfolded.

There’s no concrete evidence regarding the cause of the incident leading to Peterson being choked out. Videos showed that he approached Diaz with his hands up before the UFC veteran grabbed him in a submission hold. Peterson claimed to seek revenge on Diaz by knocking him out if they ever crossed paths again. DeMoor, involved in the previous altercation and disqualified in his boxing match, called Diaz “soft” after the brawl outside the bar.

Mike Perry admitted to not knowing what led to the altercation but understood from personal experience that some people tend to look for trouble when they encounter professional fighters. He reiterated that they are fighters who tend to react against anyone who attempts a one-on-one conflict, adding that bare-knuckle boxing, especially against a larger opponent, can take on a “Saturday night street fight with a couple of shots of tequila” vibe.
