Nate Diaz Favored to Defeat Jake Paul in Potential Rematch

Jake Paul, who has a 7-1 record as a professional boxer but never competed in MMA, has proposed a $10 million rematch with UFC veteran Nate Diaz in MMA, despite being a 6-to-1 underdog according to opening betting lines, following his win over Diaz in a 10-round boxing match.

Jake Paul might need to think twice about his desires. On a recent Saturday, Paul emerged victorious against Nate Diaz in a 10-round boxing match, securing a decisive unanimous decision against the UFC veteran at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. This match marked Diaz’s initial foray into professional boxing, but the aftermath of the event was dominated by talks about Paul’s challenge of a $10 million rematch in Diaz’s MMA home turf.

Currently, Paul’s career in professional boxing stands at 7 victories against 1 defeat. However, he has not yet ventured into the realm of MMA. If he intends to honor his commitment, Paul will find himself experiencing his MMA debut as a considerable underdog. The preliminary betting lines released on Sunday by online bookmaker BetOnline shows Paul as a significantly disadvantaged participant, being ranked as a 6-to-1 underdog (+650), in a potential MMA rematch against Diaz. In contrast, Diaz, the native of Stockton, is pegged as a favored participant with overwhelming 12-to-1 odds (-1200).

In layman’s terms, it would require a staggering sum of $1,200 bet on Diaz, to generate a profit of $100 if he triumphs over Paul in an MMA rematch. Meanwhile, Paul’s prospective MMA competitions will exclusively be executed with PFL. Further, in his post-bout press conference, Diaz seemed open to the prospect of an MMA rematch, given PFL co-promotes alongside his own company, Real Fight Inc. Expounding on this, Diaz said, “They said they wanted to do the PFL thing, and I think that if we want to do that, we’re going to have to co-promote and do Real Fight vs. PFL, and I’m with that. But my goal is to get a rematch in any art…We’re going to see what happens with him, see if he really wants to do that. If not, I’ll be back in [boxing] hunting him down too. Either way is fine with me.”
