Nate Diaz Surrenders to New Orleans Police After Arrest Warrant Issued for Second-Degree Battery

Nate Diaz turned himself in to the New Orleans Police Department after an arrest warrant was issued for his involvement in a street brawl on Bourbon Street.

Nate Diaz has voluntarily turned himself into the New Orleans Police Department following an arrest warrant issued for his involvement in a street brawl on Bourbon Street this past weekend. Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield, released a statement to the media on Thursday, explaining that Nate turned himself in at approximately 7:10 am CT, and they intend to present evidence and videos that show Nate was acting in self-defense.

The arrest warrant is for suspicion of second-degree battery, which is considered a felony in Louisiana and carries a potential penalty of up to eight years in prison “with or without hard labor” and/or up to a $2,000 fine. The incident occurred after Diaz attended Misfits Boxing 6 in New Orleans this past Friday, when he was involved in two separate altercations. He first nearly got into a fight with reality TV star Chase DeMoor and later found himself in an altercation with Logan Paul lookalike Rodney Petersen, who was ultimately choked unconscious by Diaz.

In a statement released on Tuesday via Rosenfield, Diaz claimed his actions were in self-defense, stating that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued him with the intention of engaging him and that he acted entirely in self-defense once the altercation began. No further comments have been made about this incident. It remains uncertain if Diaz’s legal issues will impact his upcoming boxing match with Jake Paul, scheduled for August 5 in Dallas.
