ONE Championship: John Lineker’s Ferocious Knockout Wins the Buzzer-Beater

John Lineker managed to defeat Jae Woong Kim at ONE Championship Fight Night 13 in Bangkok, stopping him with just 4 seconds left in the fight despite having a challenging early start and being dominated most of the time.

John Lineker, famed for his “Hands of Stone,” delivered a remarkable performance at the ONE Championship Fight Night 13 in Bangkok on Friday night. He faced off against Jae Woong Kim. In what was a thrilling encounter, Lineker triumphed over the South Korean fighter with a victory achieved in the last 4 seconds of the bout.

However, the fight wasn’t easy. In fact, it started off pretty badly for Lineker. Kim managed to score an early takedown in the first round, controlling the action from a superior position. Despite some improvement in the second round, Lineker continued to struggle against Kim who skillfully mixed his strikes while diverting Lineker’s power shots. Kim steadily set the pace in the third round, using the perfect blend of kicks and knees at range to keep Lineker at bay. As the match approached its end, it appeared that Lineker was on the brink of another defeat.

Lineker had other plans though. In what can only be described as a dramatic turnaround, Lineker landed a powerful left hook during an exchange in the last few seconds of the bout. This suddenly altered the dynamics of the duel as Kim hit the canvas. Swiftly capitalizing on this opportunity, Lineker launched a series of severe ground-and-pound shots. This forced referee Herb Dean to intervene and call the match in Lineker’s favor, right before the final bell sounded. Post fight, Lineker voiced his desire for a rematch with ONE bantamweight champion Fabricio de Andrade, who had taken the title from him in February after Lineker was forced into retirement before the fifth round. Highlights of Lineker’s impressive comeback are now gaining traction.
