Paddy Pimblett Vows to Repeat UFC 314 Success Against Ilia Topuria

Paddy Pimblett, after defeating Michael Chandler at UFC 314, expressed interest in fighting Ilia Topuria in the lightweight division, while also eyeing a future title shot and acknowledging potential changes in the division’s landscape.

Paddy Pimblett is eager to welcome Ilia Topuria to the lightweight division. This comes after what many are calling the best performance of his career at UFC 314.

In Miami’s co-main event, Pimblett absolutely decimated Michael Chandler. He stopped him, moving to an impressive 7-0 record in the UFC.

A big fight looms for “The Baddy.” Fans are buzzing about a potential showdown with former featherweight champ Ilia Topuria. During his post-fight chat with Joe Rogan, Pimblett was asked about this possible clash after calling out Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, and Arman Tsarukyan.

“To be honest, I forgot about him,” Pimblett admitted. “I would’ve mentioned him in the cage if I’d remembered. Shows how irrelevant he is. I’m ranked higher at lightweight, so I’d love to welcome him at 155. But apparently, he’s sitting out waiting for a title shot.”

“What I did to Chandler? That’s the blueprint,” he continued. “I’ll do the exact same thing to Ilia as I did to Chandler.”

Pimblett has his sights set on fighting for the lightweight title in 2026. Whether it’s Islam Makhachev or someone else standing across from him, he’s ready to do what’s necessary.

“I’ve heard rumors that Islam might retire after another defense or two,” Pimblett explained. “Or if [Jack Della Maddalena] beats Belal Muhammad, he might move up and fight for the welterweight belt.”

“We’ll just have to wait and see,” he mused. “You’ve got to let it all play out, haven’t you? Whoever’s in front of me is who I fight next. Whoever the UFC sends my way… that’s who I’ll face.”
