Paige VanZant Plans Slap Fighting Comeback After Setback

Paige VanZant expressed dissatisfaction with her draw in a slap fighting match against Chelsea Dodson due to a foul she committed, leading to a point deduction, but she remains determined to improve and compete again.

Paige VanZant wasn’t thrilled with her latest slap fighting match result. She admitted to the foul that led to her draw against Chelsea Dodson in Abu Dhabi.

In the second round, VanZant landed an illegal blow. It was her second strike and got penalized for “clubbing,” using more wrist and arm than hand. This even opened a small cut on Dodson’s face.

Losing a point meant without a knockout or knockdown, she could only manage a draw. Tough break, right?

“Well guys, Power Slap is over,” VanZant shared on Instagram. “Went home with the draw. I accidentally clubbed. That was my fault.” She acknowledged she needs to work on her distance for next time.

The match ended 28-28 across the board. It was her second appearance in Dana White’s promotion since debuting in June. Back then, she won by unanimous decision after taking all three shots and delivering a brutal knockdown.

Initially, Power Slap was just a “bucket list” item for VanZant. But she liked it so much, she booked another match ahead of UFC 308 weekend in Abu Dhabi.

Despite the setback, she’s determined to return stronger. Next time, aiming for the win column!
