Patchy Mix & Patricio Pitbull Request Bellator Release Due to Inactivity

Patchy Mix, the reigning Bellator bantamweight champion, is seeking release from the organization due to prolonged inactivity, joining fellow champion Patricio Pitbull in this request following a series of postponed events after PFL’s acquisition of Bellator.

Patchy Mix wants out. The reigning Bellator bantamweight champ is fed up with sitting on the sidelines. No fights on the horizon, no action, just crickets.

Joining him in this quest for freedom is Patricio Pitbull. The Brazilian champ’s also tired of waiting around after a lengthy layoff. It’s a champions’ exodus, it seems.

Mix took to Twitter, expressing his frustration. “My manager told me to hold off but haven’t heard anything from PFL/Donn Davis,” he tweeted. He’s asking for a release if they won’t let him fight. Respectfully, of course.

“I don’t want this,” he continues, “but if I’m not important to the company being a multi-time champ, then let me go.” His words echo the sentiments of many fighters feeling sidelined.

Back in May, Mix fought and was supposed to return in November. But the Paris card? Scrapped! PFL officials called it a postponement, promising future bookings. Yet here we are—nothing.

January was supposed to be his month, with a card planned in Dubai. Main events announced—his name? Absent. Another promise unfulfilled.

It’s not just Mix and Pitbull feeling this way. Corey Anderson’s voiced his concerns too. Since PFL bought Bellator in 2023, inactivity has been rampant among champs.

A September event in London lost its main draw: Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards vanished without explanation. Rescheduled for Saudi Arabia in October instead.

Then came November’s Paris debacle—Mix vs. Leandro Higo canceled altogether. Frustration mounts as champs demand answers—or releases.

MMA Fighting reached out to PFL for comments on these growing frustrations. Silence so far. The clock ticks as fighters wait—and wonder—what’s next?
