Patricky Pitbull believes that Usman Nurmagomedov should be stripped of the lightweight belt and removed from the grand prix tournament after his recent drug failure, and disagrees with the decision to rebook the fight against Brent Primus.
Patricky Pitbull is not happy with Usman Nurmagomedov’s drug failure and believes he should be stripped of the belt and removed from the lightweight grand prix. He feels that the rules are clear and that if a fighter tests positive for drugs, they should vacate the belt and leave the tournament. Pitbull is scheduled to face Alexander Shabliy in the grand prix semifinals at Bellator 301, and he sees this fight as an opportunity to contend for the title. He expressed his disappointment in the decision to allow Nurmagomedov to remain in the tournament and retain the belt.
Bellator is currently in negotiations for a potential takeover by rival promotion PFL and has not officially confirmed whether Nurmagomedov will be stripped of the title. Bellator President Scott Coker stated that the promotion is waiting for the results of a “B” sample from the test that resulted in the failure before making a decision on Nurmagomedov’s future. However, Nurmagomedov has denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs and has provided medical documentation to validate his use. He has also agreed to enroll in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) after the positive test.
Pitbull lost the Bellator lightweight title to Nurmagomedov in the past and is displeased with the decision to rematch Nurmagomedov against Primus after the failed drug test. He believes that the fight should not be rebooked because it was cancelled due to a failed drug test, and therefore, it does not make sense to reschedule it. Pitbull is focused on his upcoming fight against Shabliy in the grand prix semi-finals, and he sees this as an opportunity to reclaim the title.
In the meantime, Nurmagomedov has been defending the belt and has already faced some tough competition in the grand prix. Regardless of the outcome of the situation with Nurmagomedov, Pitbull is determined to continue his pursuit of the lightweight title in Bellator.
