The first PFL Europe card of 2025 will feature a headline fight between lightweights Paul Hughes and Bruno Miranda in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on May 10, marking the start of the PFL Europe tournaments with winners receiving $100,000.
The first PFL Europe card of 2025 is set to make waves in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Headlining the event on May 10 will be lightweights Paul Hughes and Bruno Miranda, as announced by the company on Wednesday.
Paul Hughes, just 27 years old, has quickly risen to prominence. He gained recognition with a victory over AJ McKee Jr. in his PFL debut and narrowly lost a majority decision to 155-pound champion Usman Nurmagomedov this past January.
Once a featherweight champion in Cage Warriors, Hughes boasts a pro record of 13-2. Known as “Big News,” he secured seven consecutive wins before facing Nurmagomedov, including three finishes since moving up to lightweight.
Bruno Miranda, meanwhile, improved his record to 17-5 with a split-decision win over former Bellator lightweight champ Patricky Pitbull in June 2024. This victory came after two tough losses to Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Brent Primus. A rising Brazilian star back in 2021, “Robusto” Miranda has won eight of his last ten fights, with half ending in stoppages.
The Belfast card will also mark the start of the 2025 PFL Europe tournaments. Fighters will compete for the chance to win $100,000 later this year.
“Paul’s vocal support made this an easy choice,” said PFL CEO Pete Murray. “I’m excited to feel the atmosphere at The SSE Arena during the main event.” He added that they plan to fill the card with PFL Europe tournament fighters and other athletes ready to leave it all in the cage. “Belfast, get your tickets; we believe this event will be historic.”
