PFL co-founder Donn Davis challenges Dana White and the UFC, claiming they are afraid of a cross-promotional event, while asserting that the winner of the PFL fight between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira is the top heavyweight in the world, and inviting Jon Jones to face the winner.
PFL co-founder Donn Davis isn’t holding back. He’s challenging Dana White and the UFC, again.
Before Saturday’s PFL: Battle of the Giants in Saudi Arabia, Davis chatted with the media. The event features Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira. Davis claims White is dodging a PFL vs. UFC showdown.
“Sure, the UFC brand is bigger,” Davis admits. “We’re the newbies here. Year five for us, year 30 for them.” But he insists if it came down to a five-on-five fight, they’d split victories. “Dana’s scared, hashtag Dana scared,” he quips.
Davis encourages fans to support all fighters. “We love all fighting,” he says. “Watch both leagues.”
He’s outspoken about White, the UFC, and PFL’s talent pool. Davis firmly believes whoever wins between Ngannou and Ferreira is the top heavyweight worldwide.
Davis also challenges Jon Jones, current UFC heavyweight champ, to face Ngannou or the winner of this bout.
“This is the fight everyone wants,” Davis states confidently. He argues that the No. 1 heavyweight title goes through this match, not via UFC rankings.
PFL aims to deliver what fans crave. Ngannou is ready for any challenger. Davis thinks Jones seeks legacy cementation, hinting at one major hurdle preventing this dream fight.
