Israel Adesanya is looking to fight again “before the end of the summer” after winning back the UFC middleweight title at UFC 287.
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is already looking to throw down in the Octagon again, according to UFC President Dana White. Adesanya won back his championship belt at UFC 287 on April 8, knocking out Alex Pereira in the second round. Pereira had previously beaten Adesanya twice in kickboxing, but he is now heading to the light heavyweight division. As for Adesanya, he wants another fight as soon as possible.
White commended Adesanya’s enthusiasm for fighting during the UFC Kansas City Post-Fight Press Conference, saying, “I love that about Israel Adesanya. Israel Adesanya wants to fight non-stop, constantly, and he wants to fight everybody. We’re working on that, and he’ll fight again soon, maybe before the end of the summer.”
White added that Adesanya was already asking about his next fight at the Miami press conference, and that he’s impressed with Adesanya’s drive to fight frequently. Adesanya’s quick turnaround after winning the championship shows that he’s not one to rest on his laurels.
Luke Rockhold, another UFC fighter, was inspired by Adesanya’s recent knockout of Pereira. Rockhold was so impressed that he shared a photo of Adesanya from the fight on his Instagram account. With Adesanya hungry for his next fight and fighters like Rockhold taking inspiration from his performances, the next UFC event featuring the middleweight champ promises to be exciting.
