Raquel Pennington Responds to UFC 307 Loss to Julianna Pena

Raquel Pennington seeks a rematch with Julianna Pena after losing the UFC women’s bantamweight title via controversial split decision at UFC 307, although a rematch seems unlikely due to Kayla Harrison’s victory on the same card.

Raquel Pennington is eager for a rematch with Julianna Pena. She lost the UFC women’s bantamweight title via split decision at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City last Saturday. Many fans and analysts felt Pennington had done enough to keep her belt, making the decision controversial.

On Tuesday, Pennington, affectionately known as "Rocky," shared her thoughts on the fight’s outcome. “I’m home and I’m healthy,” she stated. “My heart hurts but my head is high!” She doesn’t feel she truly lost that fight. Just another twist in her journey, she says. Determined to come back stronger, she’s asking for a rematch ASAP!

Despite the loss, Pennington expressed gratitude for the support she received during fight week. Surrounded by love, support, and blessings, she cherishes memories that will last forever. A shout-out to all her supporters was essential in her message.

Pennington and Pena have history; they were both competitors on season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter. Pena won that season. Their recent bout was intense, with Pena taking rounds two and three. Pennington fought back fiercely in the championship rounds. But it was the first round that sealed it—two judges favored Pena.

However, a rematch might be a long shot for Pennington. Why? Fellow UFC 307 fighter Kayla Harrison secured a decision win over Kelen Vieira in the main card opener, possibly putting her next in line for a title shot.
