Renato Moicano has been forced to withdraw from his UFC Vegas 72 lightweight bout against Arman Tsarukyan due to a knee injury.
Renato Moicano has recently lost a significant opportunity, as he has been forced out of his UFC Vegas 72 lightweight bout against Arman Tsarukyan. The bout was scheduled to headline the April 29 UFC APEX card. Sources have confirmed Moicano’s withdrawal, which was first reported by MMA Junkie, is due to a knee injury.
It remains unknown if a new opponent will be found for Tsarukyan or if another bout will be moved into the main event slot. Moicano was aiming to build on a memorable submission win over Brad Riddell in November at UFC 281. The victory was highlighted by his viral “Moicano wants money” post-fight promo. Since moving up to the 155-pound division, the former featherweight has a 4-2 record.
On the other hand, Tsarukyan is considered one of the fastest-rising stars in the lightweight roster, with victories in six of his past seven fights. In December, he won a unanimous decision over Damir Ismagulov, which was only Ismagulov’s second loss in 26 professional bouts.
