Sage Northcutt Departs ONE Championship: His Response

Sage Northcutt and ONE Championship have mutually agreed to part ways, with Northcutt expressing optimism for future fights in 2025 after a tumultuous tenure marked by limited bouts and disputes.

Sage Northcutt and ONE Championship have officially parted ways.

On Friday, the news broke that Northcutt and ONE mutually agreed to end their partnership. The promotion wished him well but kept mum about further details.

Northcutt took to social media the same day, sharing his excitement for what lies ahead in 2025.

“Excited for 2025 and looking forward to having some big fights!”

Northcutt first made waves in the UFC before joining ONE in 2019. His stint there? A bit rocky. He fought only twice, losing his debut and later pulling out of a fight due to COVID issues. But he bounced back in 2023 with a stunning first-round heel hook victory over Ahmed Mujtaba.

Earlier this year, another hiccup: he was set to face Shinya Aoki at ONE 165 but had to withdraw last minute due to visa troubles for his team. This led to some friction between him and the promotion as they disputed the details.

At just 28, Northcutt is now a free agent with a solid MMA record of 12-3. Who knows where he’ll land next?
