Sean Brady Claims Better Performance Against Leon Edwards Than Belal Muhammad

Sean Brady became the first fighter to finish Leon Edwards with a fourth-round guillotine choke at UFC London, asserting his dominance over Edwards more emphatically than Belal Muhammad‘s previous victory and positioning himself as a potential title contender.

Sean Brady made history by becoming the first fighter to finish Leon Edwards, sealing his victory with a fourth-round guillotine choke at UFC London. This win was even more decisive than Belal Muhammad’s triumph over Edwards eight months prior.

Muhammad had dominated Edwards in their fight, ultimately winning by decision after five intense rounds. During the recent fights, Muhammad tweeted, “Sean copied my homework,” referring to Brady’s grappling-heavy tactics.

Brady, however, was quick to point out the differences in their outcomes. He remarked, “I think I did a lot better than Belal did,” emphasizing his dominance in every round against Edwards. “No one’s ever did it like me,” he added.

“If we were in Philly, you ain’t making me quit in front of my hometown,” Brady confidently declared. Adding a touch of local pride: “I’m going to sleep, son.”

While acknowledging similarities in strategy, Brady believed he executed the plan more effectively than Muhammad. “That’s how you beat Leon,” he noted, highlighting his superior performance.

Brady sensed Edwards breaking during the match, especially when Edwards attempted a takedown. “Once I knew he wanted to grapple with me, I knew it was going to be over soon,” Brady explained.

This submission marked Brady’s third consecutive win since his only career loss—a knockout by Muhammad in 2022. Despite the sting of that defeat, Brady sees it as a blessing in disguise given Muhammad’s subsequent success.

“People just shit on me for losing to him,” Brady said candidly. Yet he remains optimistic about his trajectory and proudly reminds everyone he’s the last person to finish Leon.

Brady has been cheering for Muhammad ever since their bout. “The better he does, the better it makes my loss look to him,” he commented. He anticipates future opportunities against top contenders like Jack Della Maddalena.

With his latest victory over Edwards, Brady is eyeing a title shot sooner rather than later. However, Shavkat Rakhmonov could pose a significant hurdle due to past scheduling complications.

Nothing is confirmed regarding who gets the next title shot post-Muhammad vs. Della Maddalena at UFC 315. But Brady feels his performance against Edwards speaks volumes compared to Rakhmonov’s narrow win over Ian Machado Garry.

“You tell me?” Brady challenged. “Is the statement coming in here and beating Leon in his hometown? I think so.” He believes his recent victories over Gilbert Burns and Leon Edwards are impressive credentials.

Ultimately, it’s up to the UFC to decide who gets the next opportunity. Brady remains focused on building his resume and eagerly awaits what lies ahead.
