In the upcoming UFC 287 main event, middleweight champion Alex Pereira will put his title on the line against former titleholder Israel Adesanya. Top bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley shared his pick for who will win the fight on his Timbo Sugar Show on YouTube. O’Malley revealed that he thinks Adesanya will come out on top in the rematch.
O’Malley thinks Adesanya will implement wrestling in this fight and get Pereira onto his back. According to O’Malley, Pereira did manage to take down Adesanya in the previous fight, but Adesanya responded in the following round by taking down Pereira and taking his back. Despite looking lost initially, Adesanya’s strength and top pressure allowed him to take advantage of the situation eventually.
Although O’Malley acknowledges that anything can happen in the octagon, he believes that Adesanya will emerge victorious this time around. He noted that there are different levels of black-belt jiu-jitsu, and just because someone is proficient in the gym does not mean they will succeed in a fight.
In the end, only time will tell who will emerge as the victor in this highly anticipated rematch. Nevertheless, O’Malley’s prediction may give fight fans something to chew on before the fight takes place.
