Shamil Musaev’s Brutal Left Hook KO at PFL Championships

Shamil Musaev claimed the 2024 PFL World Championships welterweight title with a decisive knockout victory over Magomed Umalatov, solidifying his status as an undefeated rising star.

Shamil Musaev—remember that name. Future star in the making, no doubt.

In the 2024 PFL World Championships, he remained undefeated. How? With a vicious knockout over Magomed Umalatov. Welterweight title? Check. $1 million prize? Also check.

The fight ended at 1:44 in the third round. Musaev faked an overhand right, then unleashed a brutal left hook. Umalatov hit the canvas hard. A few more punches followed, but the fight was done and dusted.

Impressive doesn’t even begin to cover it. This season was filled with jaw-dropping performances from Musaev, including a ground-and-pound finish over former Bellator champ Logan Storely.

This time, Musaev took a more measured approach. He faced fellow undefeated Russian Umalatov, who made him work for every combination. The opening round? A bit dull, with boos echoing in Saudi Arabia.

But things changed quickly once they started trading shots. Crisp hands, nasty power—Musaev had it all on display.

The finishing move was a masterpiece of timing and execution. Musaev moved forward with an overhand right, making Umalatov dodge. Then came the left hook—snapped his head around and down he went.

With such dominance in the welterweight division this year, Musaev’s star is definitely on the rise in the PFL.
