A potential UFC welterweight fight between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Jack Della Maddalena is being discussed, following Maddalena’s callout of Rakhmonov after his victory at UFC 299.
Well, well, well. Looks like we’ve got a UFC welterweight showdown brewing. Shavkat Rakhmonov and Jack Della Maddalena, two top-tier fighters, might just be stepping into the ring together. At least, that’s the word on the street.
Maddalena threw down the gauntlet at UFC 299. He’d just pulled off a stunning upset against Gilbert Burns, and he was feeling bold. “Rakhmonov, you’re next,” he seemed to say.
And Rakhmonov? He didn’t shy away. “Bring it on, Jack,” he shot back. “You’ll end up like the rest of ’em.” He posted this on X, for all to see.
“I respect your courage and confidence Jack, but you will face the same fate as my previous opponents,” he wrote. A bold claim from the Kazakhstani fighter, currently ranked No. 3 in the UFC and on a six-fight winning streak.
Rakhmonov’s recent victory over two-time title challenger Stephen Thompson at UFC 296 has folks buzzing. Could a title shot be on the horizon?
Maddalena’s knockout of Burns was impressive, no doubt. It could even catapult him to the No. 4 spot in the UFC rankings, currently held by “Durinho”. That would put him in line for a title eliminator with Rakhmonov.
With seven straight wins under his belt, Maddalena’s on a roll. His callout of Rakhmonov, who’s reportedly had trouble finding worthy opponents, shows he’s not afraid to take on the big guns.
So, are we in for a Rakhmonov vs. Maddalena showdown? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure: it’s gonna be one heck of a fight.
