Song Yadong secured a dominant win over Chris Gutierrez at UFC Vegas 83, potentially earning a title eliminator.
Song Yadong may have just secured a title eliminator. He did so with a resounding victory over Chris Gutierrez at UFC Vegas 83.
Yadong’s performance was nothing short of dominant. He swept Gutierrez on the scorecards, earning two 50-45s and even a 50-44. This was for five rounds of superior striking and grappling. It was his second consecutive win after a setback against Cory Sandhagen.
Post-fight, Yadong called out his originally scheduled UFC Vegas 83 opponent, Petr Yan. Yan, however, was not the least bit impressed by the five-round tactical display. It’s interesting to see what other fighters had to say about Yadong vs. Gutierrez and the rest of the UFC Vegas 83 main card.
Terrance McKinney (@twrecks155) tweeted, “Song thought it was gonna be an easy fight and Chris took him through 5 rounds gotta respect it.”
The Anthony Smith vs. Khalil Rountree fight also drew reactions. Aljamain Sterling (@funkmasterMMA) tweeted, “He could’ve landed another kill shot but waited for the ref to see what he was seeing, and it saved Smith from any more damage. Great fight. Great stoppage. #UFCVegas83.”
Terrance McKinney (@twrecks155) also commented on this fight, “Respect for not following smith down with some more shots, that was a hell of a combo.”
The Nasrat Haqparast vs. Jamie Mullarkey fight was another highlight. John Wayne Makdessi (@JohnMakdessi) tweeted, “I beat both of these guys. Even with 7 surgeries with no camp and real training. Fuck the judges and the ufc. #UFCVegas85.”
Terrance McKinney (@twrecks155) added, “Mullarky doesn’t have a chin Nasrat packed him away quick.”
The other fights included Tim Elliott vs. Sumudaerji and Jun Yong Park vs. Andre Muniz. The latter saw a tweet from Terrance McKinney (@twrecks155), “Tf turtle won that s dude just held and turtle did all the damage that third rd.”
