Song Yadong vs. Chris Gutierrez set to headline UFC Shanghai in December

The UFC’s return to China is set to feature a bantamweight bout between Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez as the main event at UFC Shanghai on Dec. 9.

The upcoming UFC event in Shanghai has its headlining match set, as confirmed by sources familiar with the promotion’s plans. Set to take place on December 9 at Shanghai Indoor Arena, the event will feature a bantamweight bout between Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez. This matchup was first reported on Twitter by MagicM_MMABets.

Song, who is 25 years old, will be competing for the second time this year and aims to continue the momentum of his impressive main event performance against Ricky Simon in April, where he secured a fifth-round TKO victory. The No. 12-ranked bantamweight in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings was originally slated to face Rob Font at UFC 292 in August, but had to withdraw from the bout.

On the other hand, Gutierrez has a record of 8-2-1 in his 11-fight UFC run, including a recent unanimous decision win over Alatengheili at UFC Vegas 81 in October. He began the year with an eight-fight unbeaten streak, which was broken by Pedro Munhoz in April. Prior to that loss, Gutierrez scored a memorable knockout of Frankie Edgar at UFC 281.

Both fighters are looking to make their mark in the upcoming event, and fans can expect an exciting showdown between these two bantamweight contenders.
