A heavyweight match between Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura has been added to UFC 298, set to take place on Feb. 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
We’ve got a heavyweight showdown on our hands for UFC 298. That’s right, folks.
The UFC has let us in on some exciting news. Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura are set to face off. This clash will be part of the UFC pay-per-view event on Feb. 17. And where’s the battleground? The Honda Center, Anaheim, Calif.
“Bam Bam is back!” That’s what the tweet from UFC_AUSNZ read. It confirmed the Tai Tuivasa vs Marcin Tybura bout for #UFC298. The tweet came out on December 12, 2023.
Now, let’s talk about Tuivasa. He’s had a bit of a rough patch recently. After a spectacular five-fight winning streak, all by knockout, he’s hit a three-fight losing skid. Remember that memorable finish of Derrick Lewis at UFC 271 in February 2022? Yeah, those were the days. Currently, Tuivasa is the No. 8 ranked heavyweight in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings. His recent losses include Sergei Pavlovich and Ciryl Gane, both knockouts. And let’s not forget that submission loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC 292 in September.
Tybura, on the other hand, is also looking to bounce back. His two-fight winning streak was abruptly ended by Tom Aspinall at UFC London in July. Currently tied at No. 10 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, Tybura has a 7-2 record over his past nine appearances. Not too shabby, eh? His victories include stoppage wins over Greg Hardy and Walt Harris.
And the cherry on top? UFC 298 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight. The contenders? Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria. Can’t wait!
