Trevor Peek suffered a leg fracture during training at the UFC Performance Institute, leading to the cancellation of his scheduled fight against Jeong Yeong Lee on May 3, and he hopes to return for an event in Nashville on July 12.
Trevor Peek’s plans for the octagon have hit a snag due to an unexpected mishap. What began as a standard training session spiraled into chaos when Peek suffered a bizarre leg injury at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. He was supposed to face Jeong Yeong Lee at UFC Des Moines on May 3, but that’s not happening now.
Peek broke the news of his injury via Instagram, sharing a video update with his followers. “I actually fractured my leg at the performance institute on Friday,” he explained. Despite it being a minor fracture, further CT scans are needed to assess any ligament damage.
The story behind the injury isn’t as thrilling as one might expect. Peek was simply jump roping on soft mats, alternating legs after about 20 minutes. A moment of fatigue and carelessness led him to land awkwardly on his left leg, producing a sound reminiscent of a shotgun blast.
This setback comes as Peek was gearing up for his first fight in 2025 after a tough 2024 season with back-to-back losses against Yanal Ashmouz and Charlie Campbell. His current UFC record stands at 1-3, making this next fight crucial for his career trajectory.
Peek mused that if the injury hadn’t occurred on UFC grounds, he might’ve concealed it and still competed. “Unfortunately, I was on the UFC’s premises whenever I did it, so they knew about it,” he said. If there were a way to tape it up and keep it under wraps, he would’ve tried to make May 3 happen.
Reflecting on past bouts where he fought through injuries and less-than-ideal health, Peek acknowledged that perhaps it’s for the best that the decision was made by UFC officials. They pulled him from the fight, prioritizing his long-term well-being over immediate competition.
In discussions with UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby, Peek hopes to secure a spot at the upcoming Nashville event on July 12. As for Jeong Yeong Lee, it’s unclear whether officials will seek a new opponent for him.
