Tyson Fury plans to fight Oleksandr Usyk twice, Anthony Joshua at least once, and have a rematch with Francis Ngannou, dismissing retirement rumors and stating he is in the prime of his life.
Tyson Fury’s got his eyes on the prize. He’s all geared up for some big fights.
“The Gypsy King” is set to start his 2024 campaign in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. May 18 is the date. He’s taking on WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk. Everyone’s waiting for this one.
The fight was supposed to happen on Feb. 17. But, Fury got a cut in training. So, it got rescheduled.
Fury’s the current WBC heavyweight titleholder. He’s not just planning to beat Usyk. He’s aiming for the undisputed champion status. And, he’s not stopping at one fight. He’s planning a rematch with Usyk.
He spilled the beans in an Instagram video. He also hinted at a future bout with Anthony Joshua, a fellow Brit. And, he’s not leaving out Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champ and current PFL fighter.
Fury’s not thinking about retirement. Not even close. “I ain’t retiring anywhere,” he said in the video. He’s got two fights with Usyk. Then, he’s planning to fight “AJ”. Maybe even twice.
“And then I’m going to fight Ngannou again,” he added. He’s got at least five fights lined up. He’s 35 and in the prime of his life. He’s ready to smash.
Fury and Ngannou already had a fight in October. It was a split decision. It was Ngannou’s pro boxing debut. He knocked Fury down in the third round. But Fury held on and won.
Ngannou’s not slowing down, though. He’s fighting Joshua on March 8 in Riyadh. The winner might fight Fury or Usyk.
When Fury fights Usyk, it’ll be his 36th pro bout. Both Fury and Usyk are undefeated. Fury’s record is 34-0-1 (24 KOs). Usyk’s is 21-0 (14 KOs).
