Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are on the brink of their much-anticipated face-off. It’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it?
The pay-per-view price for the Fury vs. Usyk match was announced on a Thursday. It’s set at $69.99, available on both DAZN and PPV.com. A bit cheaper than Fury’s last fight, don’t you think?
Fury’s previous bout against ex-UFC heavyweight champ, Francis Ngannou, was priced at $79.99.
The Fury vs. Usyk match is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17. The location? The Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Quite the venue, eh?
The victor of this match will be hailed as boxing’s unified heavyweight champion. Talk about stakes!
Fury, also known as “The Gypsy King,” is the reigning WBC heavyweight champion. He’s also the lineal heavyweight champion in boxing. Impressive, right?
At 35, this Englishman has an undefeated record (35-0, 24 KOs). He’s got some notable wins under his belt, including victories over Deontay Wilder (twice!), Wladimir Klitschko, Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora (three times!), and Otto Wallin.
Remember his match against Ngannou? He won by a controversial split decision in October, despite being knocked down in the third round.
Usyk, on the other hand, is a force to be reckoned with. He’s got the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight belts. Not to mention, he’s an Olympic gold medalist.
This 37-year-old Ukrainian has a flawless record (21-0, 14 KOs). He’s defeated Anthony Joshua twice and knocked out Daniel Dubois after a successful stint at cruiserweight. He even became the undisputed champion.
Usyk also has a heavyweight victory over Chisora.
